Foster Care in the context to the rights of the child
It is with great pleasure that I have responded to the invitation of the Foster Family Association “Love Nest” to speak in today’s topic “If there is a place in our heart there is also a place in our home – Foster Care should concern all of us”.
Particular joy that derives, above all, from the fact that I am among people who practice everyday their love and interest in children. People who hold an open arms to welcome children for a shorter or longer time, who for one reason or another have been forced to move away from their family environment. Through foster care, foster parents, with care and love for children, come to strengthen the national framework for child protection, while supporting the child-centered orientation of society. As the Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of the Child, I stand with respect and appreciation for all and all of you and the work you are about to bring to an end and I stand ready to support in any way this important institution for the protection of children and an effective framework safeguarding their rights.
